I've got one of blacky's glass over
glass
calls with a walnut pot and a hickory striker
and the sound it can produce is exceptional
without any questions what so ever.
I was honored when I received this from
Hard Case as a gift. Being a gift I just hate to
use this call in the field but again hearing the
pure turkey sounds this friction call can and
will produce, my feelings are changing.
I want to carry this call next spring in my vest.
But I might change my mind again, I don't know?
Gene's workmanship is without question, exceptional
and anybody who buys one or anybody who
like me, is lucky enough to receives one of Gene's
calls as a gift, will love his calls. Not only is it a
special call, but the pure turkey sounds are

I got the call today. All I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
I put a damp spot on the glass and tried the rain chalk, I gotta tell that
stuff works and sounds really sweet. I scratched up a little spot to see if
it was any different and walla a new tone. Out of the two spots I really
like how the chalk sounds when it purrs and yelps. The wood is absolutely
beautiful and thanks so much for signing and dating the back. I think my HS
slate just got bumped to second string.

GLASS OVER GLASS PERSONALIZED CALL
Well over the last 4
years I can attest that many a turkey I or any clients have taken, were taken
with a custom glass call from Blacky! They are very sweet calls, some of the
most original sounding calls I have ever used. They are my call of choice! Gene
you should be proud of your calls, every one of them, they look good and kill
birds. I don't hesitate to recommend them and I give them to all my youth and
women hunters I have.

BOX-n-SLATE FRICTION CALL
I would like to thank my good friend from Sugar Grove, West Virginia, Ken Crummett, for sending me the call and I would like to thank you for making such a realistic call that produces excellent yelps, cluck, purrs and whines. I will highly recommend your call to all my friends and fellow turkey hunters.
I have turkey hunted since the early seventies and have hunted in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Alabama and the Low Country of South Carolina.
I have also made Wingbone and Slate calls since 1973. I also raised a few turkeys, Gobblers and Hens, and I know your Box-n-Slate sounds exactly like a Wild Turkey.
