I received my call from Gene well packaged and well protected and once opened my first impression was "Wow".

The call is a Bird's Eye Maple/ Crystal over Glass. The call was of a nice weight and fit nicely in my hand. The glass was correctly centered and the insert was was appealing to the eye. An inspection of the call revealed a well polished surface and the worm holes on the back added to it's authenticity and as such, added character, making this autographed call a "One of A Kind". A big plus for those of you that collect hand made calls.

The sound holes were drilled without defect. Though I would have preferred that a couple more be drilled, I found that once conditioned, the call was rated A+ as a finishing call.

As I suspected this call made music...with excellent rollover and the purrs, well they were astounding. Clucks and Cackles were made with ease as well. As is typical with crystal, volume can be problematic without proper conditioning so If you are looking for a finishing call that is easy to use and has impeccable sound, have Gene make you one of these baby's. For close in combat, this call will be deadly, period, end of story

I guess in the final analysis and to be absolutely fair to Gene, I communicated very little with him as to what I expected, fair or not, I like to leave much of the details of my "First" call from a maker to the imagination. Gene produced a damn fine call that has found a place in my arsenal of calls used to pursue "Ole Tom".

Payment and delivery were through PayPal and Gene wasted no time shipping the call out to me....A+ for that.

My next call, I expect I'll be more specific on exactly what I want but this call made the grade and I can honestly recommend that you give him a shout for all of your calling needs, you should be glad you did.

I received the calls today and there are a lot of words that I want to say to you but I think saying that the pictures you emailed me did these calls NO JUSTICE is the best way to put it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got one of blacky's glass over glass
calls with a walnut pot and a hickory striker
and the sound it can produce is exceptional
without any questions what so ever.
I was honored when I received this from
Hard Case as a gift. Being a gift I just hate to
use this call in the field but again hearing the
pure turkey sounds this friction call can and
will produce, my feelings are changing.

I want to carry this call next spring in my vest.
But I might change my mind again, I don't know?
Gene's workmanship is without question, exceptional

I got the call today. All I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
I put a damp spot on the glass and tried the rain chalk, I gotta tell that
stuff works and sounds really sweet. I scratched up a little spot to see if
it was any different and walla a new tone. Out of the two spots I really
like how the chalk sounds when it purrs and yelps. The wood is absolutely
beautiful and thanks so much for signing and dating the back. I think my HS
slate just got bumped to second string.

Well over the last 4 years I can attest that many a turkey I or any clients have taken, were taken with a custom glass call from Blacky! They are very sweet calls, some of the most original sounding calls I have ever used. They are my call of choice! Gene you should be proud of your calls, every one of them, they look good and kill birds. I don't hesitate to recommend them and I give them to all my youth and women hunters I have.

I would like to thank my good friend from Sugar Grove, West Virginia, Ken Crummett, for sending me the call and I would like to thank you for making such a realistic call that produces excellent yelps, cluck, purrs and whines.
